Reason: "Need section about tier upgrade cost" }}

Vehicle Tiers refers to the type of vehicle and their respective benefits, buffs and de-buffs. Certain tiers can only be obtained via the tech tree, while others require a Field Modification Center in order to obtain them. Certain vehicles can not be upgraded to higher tiers, or have prototype versions of them.

Tiered vehicles, other than T1, or basic vehicles, can not be stored in a Seaport or a Storage Depot.

Prototype[ | ]

Prototype refers to vehicles that are currently being researched in the Tech Tree. They are produced using Prototype Kits which can be used at a Garage or Shipyard. All vehicles, regardless of type, will cost 100 Basic Materials instead of the normal vehicle cost. (a prototype 86K-a “Bardiche” will never cost rmats)

Prototype vehicles receive 25% more damage than normal version (80% health of a normal vehicle).

Prototype vehicles can be repaired with a Hammer and Basic Materials but the repairs cost twice the amount as a normal vehicle. They cannot be stored in a Storage Depot or Seaport.

If they have armor, prototype vehicles have a much lower chance of deflecting hits than the standard vehicle version.

Prototype vehicles can be distinguished from standard version by their lack of paint and metallic look.

Tier 1[ | ]

Tier 1 is the "standard version" of the vehicle. This version of a vehicle is unlocked if the base vehicle chassis is fully researched on the technology tree. As such, their stats will match whatever the vehicle is. Can be constructed at a Garage or MPF, but vehicle variants must be constructed a Light Vehicle Assembly Station with their respective upgrades.

Tier 2 & 3[ | ]

Tier 2 & Tier 3 vehicles can only be created in a Field Modification Center. You must drive the vehicle into the structure and give it the necessary materials in order to upgrade it to the next tier. While most vehicles can be upgraded, generally speaking, their prices are too high for the small bonuses that they give.

Tier 2 and 3 versions of vehicles have increased durability. Tier 2 vehicles are 10% more durable than normal ones. Tier 3 vehicles are 20% more durable.

Tier 2 & 3 can be distinguished from Tier 1 by their unique camouflage visuals. Colonial vehicles use green and black or yellow camouflage paint, Warden vehicles use white and grey camouflage paint.

Trivia[ | ]

Originally, the only way to get Tier 2 & 3 vehicles was to not tech them on the first "pass" on the tech tree, essentially ignoring them on their tier in order to get them "vetted," which could take weeks to obtain.

While all combat vehicles have an extremely large cost in order to upgrade them to higher Tiers, the Colonials Light Infantry Tank is unique in that the cost to upgrade it up to T3 is comparatively low. Due to the squishy nature of the vehicle, it makes it somewhat of a viable vehicle in combat.
