This complete overhaul of the T3 Armoured Car is reinforced with tank armour. While these extra defenses lower the T12’s overall speed and handling, the addition of treads provide increased performance in less than ideal terrain.
In-game description

A colonial Tankette variant possessing superior armor, tracks, and a fixed KRN886-127 Gast Machine Gun but with a fully open-topped crew compartment.

Description[ | ]

Crew[ | ]

The T12 “Actaeon” Tankette seats a crew of 2 (1 driver, 1 gunner) and 2 additional passenger seats. The entire crew compartment is open top making the crew vulnerable to incoming fire from any direction but the front.

Inventory[ | ]

The four inventory slots can carry any type of items, but one slot needs to be reserved for the 12.7mm magazines (can stack up to 100 in one slot).

Armament[ | ]

It is armed with a fixed 12.7mm Gast Machine Gun giving it superior firepower and allowing it to damage light defenses (Rifle Pillboxes, Watchtowers, Emplacements). The MG has good accuracy and even has a longer range than comparable machine guns. However it only has 75 degrees of traverse.

Health & Armor[ | ]

The Actaeon has slightly more durability than Armored Cars but possess heavy armor. It is able to soak damage from small arms fire, shrapnel and even heavy calibers. Its strong armor also gives it deflection rates comparable to Light Tank armor.

However heavy explosives, anti-tank weaponry and Anti-Tank Mines remain dangerous threats.

Its tracks can be disabled.

Despite using tracks, the vehicle is still considered an armoured car and thus cannot run over storage boxes or Barbed Wire Fences and cannot cross Trenches.

Engine & Size[ | ]

The Actaeon is slow, even on roads and its engine has a high fuel consumption rate reducing the vehicle's autonomy. Any use will require a reliable source to refuel.

The Tankette can be packaged, forming a small Shippable that can be transported by Crane, Flatbed Truck, Freighter, or Barge.

It is heavy enough to trigger anti-tank mines and but still light enough to safely cross Field Bridges without damaging them too much. It is too small to cross Trenches. It can run over Sandbags and tier 1 walls but can't run over Barbed Wire Fences.

Tactics[ | ]

Its lack of a fully traversable turret make the Actaeon not suited to hunt partisan, but its improved gun, increased accuracy and range, and improved frontal armor makes it better suited for frontal attacks, building destruction, and infantry support.

Do be warned, the improved armor doesn't grant you immunity to even small anti-tank weapons like 20mm. Your vehicle still has barely more health than a regular AC. Once your armor is reduced, anti-tank weapons have the same effect on you as on any other AC.

The main purpose of the superior armor is to make the vehicle very resistant to both small arms and heavy machine gun calibers. As such, the Actaeon Tankette can fight any other MG-mounted armored vehicle and mostly likely win. It can even take on 12.7mm Anti Infantry Flak Gun and win due to its high resistance to that caliber and due to the long range of its 12.7mm MG.

Your machine gun can destroy light structures and has 42 meters of range and good accuracy. Use it to your advantage by attacking infantry and light structures far from you without having to get close to danger.

Weaknesses[ | ]

The Actaeon has three main vulnerabilities:

  • Its open top makes the crew easily killed by an infantry flank with small arms and frag grenades, and by fire from elevated positions.
  • Its slow speed combined with tracks that can be disabled can make it extremely slow and vulnerable to flanks.
  • Its superior armor only counters weapons that try to penetrate armor, the vehicle is vulnerable to every other type of explosives, just like any AC, such as Anti-Tank Mines, Anti-Tank Sticky Bombs, and HE Grenades.

With those vulnerabilities, the Tankette absolutely needs infantry support, even more than other ACs.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The design of the T12 draws inspiration from the British Universal Carrier as well as various Italian tankette designs, such as the L3/35 serries.
