The Storage Depot stores item crates and vehicles until they are picked up and delivered to the front. It acts as staging area between backline producers and frontline truck drivers. Each item crate or vehicle occupies exactly 1 slot. A maximum of 100 of each vehicle types can be stored.
In-game description

A World Structure found in towns to store crates, emplacements, and vehicles.

Description

The Storage Depot is a World Structure found in towns. This is the only Stockpile structure that stores Crates and allows them to be retrieved later in their crate state. The depot also stores Vehicle Crates and Vehicles, as well as Emplacements and Structure Crates. There is a Stationary Crane on its side to help with loading and unloading. The depot also allows players to create their own reserve stockpile and let other players access it by sharing its access code.

Stacks of 100 Basic Materials can be transformed into crates of basic materials (and vice versa) via the right click menu while in the Depot menu. Only 300 (30,000 uncrated) crates of basic materials can be stored in a storage depot. This can also be done with other types of Materials.

All Storage Depots that a faction begins with on a new World Conquest have 30 Trucks appropriate to their side in the Vehicle wings stored to begin early game Logistics.

Capture

This Structure has to be claimed by a Faction first to be used. To claim it simply build a destroyed Storage Depot with a Construction Vehicle (requires the townhall has the Industry upgrade). An enemy does not have access to the Storage Depot and first must be destroyed by the opposing faction and then rebuilt to be used. Rebuilding an enemy Storage Depot only gives you a quarter of its content and none of its Soldier Supplies crates. If the enemy destroys a Storage Depot but not rebuilt, then none of the content stored will be lost when you rebuild it.

Submitting items

The Storage Depot accepts crates, containers, vehicles, Emplacements and Shippable Crates of vehicles/structures.

Vehicles

The Storage Depot can store vehicles. All land vehicles can be stored in the public vehicle stockpile and up to 100 of each type can be stored. The vehicle has to be fully repaired (including Tank Armor if applicable) and have an empty inventory for this to work. To store a vehicle, get in the driver seat and open the Storage Depot menu by pressing E, then click the "Submit Vehicle" button Submit Vehicle Icon. Alternatively, the packageable vehicles can be stored by packaging the vehicle, using a crane to place it in the Loading Area on the side of the depot, which opens the depot menu, and pressing the Submit Loading Area Equipment button DrivewayEquipment inside the Depot's interface.

When retrieving a vehicle from the Depot it spawns on the Loading Area of the Depot ready for use, and starts with 5% diesel fuel.

Shipping Containers

Shipping Container contents can be transfered by deposing the container with a crane on the Loading Area on the side of the depot, you can then transfer specific crates from the container by using the right click menu on the crates in the container inventory that is shown on the bottom left of the depot menu. You can retrieve crates from the depot stockpile and put them directly in the container via the same menu.

The containers themselves can be stored when empty by pressing the Submit Loading Area Equipment button DrivewayEquipment.

Resource Containers

Resource Containers can be stored by deposing it empty on the Loading Area and by pressing the Submit Loading Area Equipment button DrivewayEquipment.

Emplacements

Emplacements can be stored by deposing them on the Loading Area and by pressing the Submit Loading Area Equipment button DrivewayEquipment.

Vehicle/Structure Crates

The Storage Depot can also store Shippable Crates of vehicles or structures. Place the crate on the Loading Area and press the Submit Loading Area Equipment button DrivewayEquipment. Once in the Depot, vehicle/structure crates can be unpacked via right click menu which destroys the shippable crate and transfers its vehicles/structures into the stockpile. However, Vehicle/Structure Crates can also be retrieved intact from the Depot.

Reserve Stockpiles

Any player can create a reserve stockpile at any Storage Depot or Seaport. Upon creation an access code is randomly generated, it can be shared with other players so they get permanent access to that reserve stockpile, no one else has access to it. The reserve stockpile can be made visible or invisible to others via an option. The reserve stockpile is specific to a given Storage Depot, meaning a player can have a reserve stockpile at one Depot and a different stockpile at another Depot. If a reserve stockpile goes unused for 50 hours then it is deleted and its content dumped into the public stockpile. You can switch from public to reserve stockpiles in the Depot menu via a button in the top right.

Unlike the public stockpile, the reserve storage has limitations on what vehicles and crates it can store, only "reservable" ones can be stored.

Crates that have been produced through a public queue are not reservable. Crates of materials are only reservable if the material has been retrieved from the Refinery queue with the retrieve as crates option. All the offensive vehicles (APC included) can never be stored in reserve storages, as well as the Bus and Construction Vehicle. The reserve stockpile can store vehicle crates of those vehicles, but once the crate is unpacked and the vehicle retrieved it can't be submitted back into the reserve stockpile. Also, any vehicle that has been previously stored in a public stockpile is no longer reservable.

You can easily check whether a crate or vehicle is reservable:

  • A reservable crate will have "reservable" written in orange in its description.
  • A reservable vehicle will show a red padlock in the top right of the vehicle's menu.

Only the creator of the reserve storage can delete it, dumping the content into the public stockpile.

Retrieving content, crate, or vehicle, from a reserve storage is much faster than retrieving content from the public stockpile.
