Shippables are structures (or vehicles) that can be packaged, moved by Cranes, and transported using specially designed vehicles. They can be stored in Storage Depots and Seaports.
Packaging[ | ]
Shippables can be packaged by going into their menu (press E
) and clicking the package
button. Moving cancels the packaging action. When packaged, they are unable to function. To unpack a shippable, and access its contents and/or operate it, you need to press E
(default). Both packaging and unpackaging takes a few seconds. The shippable can only be packaged if at full health, full Tank Armor for armored vehicles, not coupled to anything for train cars, with an empty inventory for structures.
Cranes[ | ]
When packaged, shippables can be lifted by Cranes (Crane, Stationary Crane, Facility Crane, Large Crane) by aiming at them with RMB
and picking them up with LMB
. The shippables then can be deposited on the ground, on specialized shipping vehicles, or on special shipping spots. The crane cursor changes to a gear icon when aiming at a valid special interactions. When held by a crane, a shippable is incorporeal and doesn't block or collide with anything.
Shippable Sizes[ | ]
Shippables comes in three sizes: small, large, and extra large. Most shippables are small, with only large packaged vehicles (Trucks, Assault Tanks, etc...) counting as large and only the Locomotive counting as extra large. You can check a shippable's size by packaging it and looking at the rectangular platform underneath.
Shipping Vehicles[ | ]
Shippables can be transported on special vehicles:
- The Flatbed Truck can transport a single small shippable.
- The Flatbed Car can carry a single small or large shippable and be moved by a Locomotive.
- The Barge can transport a single small or large shippable.
- The Freighter can transport up to five shippable of any size (driver must toggle the cargo doors with
F
).
The mobile crane can be undeployed (F
) and transport a small shippable, however it is very slow.
You can't pick up or deposit a shippable on a vehicle that is locked by someone else or squad locked to a squad you're not in.
Shipping Interactions[ | ]
Shippables can be placed on special shipping spots that enable special interactions:
- Storage Depot and Seaport have loading areas where all shippables can be deposited and submitted into the stockpile by clicking the
Submit Loading Area Equipment
button. Shipping Containers can also be placed on them to transfer crates in or out.
- World Resource Mines have an invisible loading area in front of them where a Resource Container can be deposited to directly transfer the mine's content into the container.
- Refineries have a loading area on their side. Resource Containers can be placed on it to directly start refining their content or to transfer resources in or out of the Refinery's stockpile. Shipping Containers can be also placed but only to retrieved refined materials from your personal refinement queue in crate form with
RMB
.
- Resource Transfer Station, Material Transfer Station, and Liquid Transfer Station have a loading area on their side to transfer items in or out with Resource Container, Material Pallet, and Fuel Container respectively.
- Light Vehicle Assembly Station and Large Assembly Factory allow a Material Pallet to be placed on their center to directly transfer items in or out.
- Trench Emplacements allow you to place an Emplacement inside it to give it a bonus to its health (quadrupled!) and rotation speed.
You can click the package
button at the bottom of those building's menu to repackage the shippable without leaving your seat in the crane.
Shippable Types[ | ]
There are many types of Shippables, with each their own function. Excluding vehicles, all shippables are produced at a Construction Yard, Light Vehicle Assembly Station, or Mass Production Factory.
Resource Container, Fuel Container, and Shipping Container can hold large quantities of items. They are useful for storage and long distance transport.
Pallets contain large quantities of Large Items and Construction Materials. They can be brought directly to the front and the large materials retrieved manually since they are used for building defenses. They can be quickly loaded/unloaded at a Material Transfer Station.
Emplacements are deployable player-controlled defence structures. They can be placed inside Trench Emplacements to get a bonus that effectively quadruples their health and increases their rotation speed.
It converts Components into Concrete Materials. It cannot be packaged or moved if it isn't completely empty.
They contain a set of a given type of vehicle or structure. They can only be produced in a Mass Production Factory. The crates cannot be directly opened, their content can only be retrieved after the crate is submitted to a Storage Depot or Seaport and unpacked (different from unpackaging) via right click in the building's menu.
Most Land vehicles can be packaged. It is mostly useful for vehicles that are very slow, or consume a lot of fuel or an expensive fuel type. You'll need a crane at the destination to retrieve the packaged vehicle. Only a few vehicles cannot be packaged: Construction Vehicle, Crane, Large Crane, Flatbed Truck, Bicycle, Transport Bus. Don't confuse packaged vehicles with shippable crates containing vehicles.
Notes[ | ]
- Every shippable except vehicles is considered a structure and as such will still decay with time. This can be prevented by either submitting them into a Storage Depot or Seaport, or by keeping them lifted on the crane's arm (shippable will be lost if crane is destroyed though).
- When held by a crane, a shippable is incorporeal and doesn't block or collide with anything.
- There are very few restrictions for where you can place shippables as long as there are no physical obstacles and the terrain isn't too sloped. You can place them in knee-deep water, on large rocks,on beaches, on top of Bunkers, but not on Bridges.
- When packaged the shippable structure or vehicle is technically a different entity, shooting it with enough damage (3 pistol shots) will unpackage it but the shippable will be undamaged.
- A packaged shippable will automatically unpackage after 30 minutes.
- You can reset a vehicle's cold level during a Snow Storm by packaging and unpackaging it as long as it's not already completely frozen.
- When a Flatbed Truck or Flatbed Car is destroyed the shippable it carried is dropped on the ground. If a Crane, Barge, or Freighter is destroyed the shippable they carried is deleted.
