The Cutler Launcher is capable of firing an unguided, rocket-propelled grenade over short distances with startling efficiency. Its simple design allows for easy deployment and storage.
In-game description

The Cutler Launcher 4 is a Warden RPG Launcher firing RPGs that is used to destroy both Vehicles and Structures.

Description[ | ]

The RPG Launcher for the warden faction that is effective against both Vehicles and Structures. The RPGs have a lower penetration chance than Anti-Tank RPGs (AP⧸RPG, ARC⧸RPG) against armored vehicles. It is heavier than any firearm, and it slows you down significantly when drawn. The projectiles are not very heavy, even lighter if wearing a Heavy Ammo Uniform (warden only), meaning you can carry the Cutler itself and 4 projectiles without being overencumbered.

Aiming[ | ]

RPG launcher aim behaves like firearms, your actual aim point hovers at a fixed height above your cursor when placed on a flat surface (except vehicle tops). However the projectile fired is affected by gravity and follows a slightly curved downward trajectory which is represented by the white aim line. The RPG launchers are perfectly accurate (no crosshair) and the projectile will explode exactly where the white aim line becomes red. If the projectile reaches the launcher's max range it automatically explodes in the air.

To make use of the maximum range of the RPG launcher you must fire from an elevated position or aim at a high point. The Cutler's maximum range is 32m (the projectile automatically explodes), but your projectile will impact the ground at 25m if you aim at the ground on flat terrain while standing.

When firing at structures from a short distance you should not aim at the top of the structure because your actual aim point will be at a fixed height above it so your projectile risks flying over the structure.

Tactic[ | ]

Due to the Cutler's significant slowdown it's advised to switch to your secondary weapon when you want to move. It should also be drawn only just before use as you will become a high priority target if the enemy spots you wielding a RPG launcher. Firing the RPG projectile leaves a very visible smoke trail which will immediately tell the enemy your exact position, so move right after firing.

Due to its relatively low penetration chance against armor, it's strongly advised when firing at armoured vehicles to hit their sides or rear at direct angles to maximize the penetration chance.

When firing at defensives structures with active AI it's recommended to attack at night and with support from infantry as the Cutler's range is relatively short. For anti-infantry defenses (Rifle Pillbox, Machine Gun Garrison, etc), if it survives the shot it will immediately retaliate with a much longer range. It is then important to either have good cover or enough Cutlers firing simultaneously to kill the defense in one salvo (1 shot for Rifle Pillbox and Watchtowers, 2 shots for Machine Gun Pillbox, and 3 for an Anti-Tank Pillbox).

The Cutler is best used with help from others to carry more projectiles and protect the RPG user. The RPG team has one RPG user with as many projectiles as they can carry whilst the others carry a weapon to defend them and extra projectiles. Working as a small team decreases the risk of the Cutler RPG launcher and its ammo from being too easily captured by the enemy. This is especially effective because the projectiles aren't very heavy which allows a small team to carry a lot of destructive power.

Update History[ | ]

  • In Update 42, Cutler Launcher 4 was introduced.[1]
  • In Update 46, Cutler Launcher 4 encumbrance decreased 28%.[2]
  • In Update 48, Cutler Launcher 4 refined material cost reduced from 25 to 15. Crate assembly time increased by 60% to be unified with similar weapons. Movement speeds whilst having the weapon equipped have been improved. Weight has been decreased. No longer trigger Howitzer Garrisons.[3]
  • In Update 50, Cutler Launcher 4 refined material cost increased from 15 to 35. [4]

Historical Reference[ | ]

The design and icon (which is unloaded) of the Cutler Launcher 4 appears to be based off the Russian RPG-2 Anti-tank recoilless gun or the German Panzerfaust 44 Anti-tank rocket launcher.

Trivia[ | ]

  • RPG launchers were given a max range due to a bug which would allow players to fire them upwards of 200 meters, allowing the creation of long ranged artillery. A hard-limited max range was added to prevent this.
